Today’s Freebie Friday is a simple but effective phonological awareness task.  Word families are a simple way to encourage decoding skills as well as rhyming.  All you need to do is print out the freebie (I’d recommend on card stock or be sure to laminate for durability), cut out the squares in each word family strip, and use the initial sound strip (found on the right hand side of each page) to change the initial sound in each strip.  Check out the pictures below!
